Thought for the Day #118

Ephesians 4:17,19  (New American Standard Bible)

17So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 19and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.

Do we have a different life style than the Gentiles?  We should, and we can!

God expects his people to live a righteous life. Our redemption through Christ Jesus has created a new spirit and a pure mind within us.

Every where we look, people are under the bondage of sin and shame. They are overcome by a lifestyle of corrupt and destructive actions. The “law of sin ” rules their life.  (Romans 7:23) They live in constant shame because of their unrighteous ways.

Many of the “Remnant” live as they always have. Just like the ungodly gentiles.   The old nature of sin is still pulling at them. It wants to continue its ungodly practices.  Carnal flesh cries out for satisfaction.

Too many of the “House of Israel” continue in their old lifestyle since becoming Christians.  This should not be. Surely we have repented and been redeemed.

Rejoice! We are no longer under bondage!

God gave us a new, powerful ability to live in His righteousness when we repented and entered into water baptism for the remission of sin. (Acts 2:38-39)

His cleansing blood has restored us into fellowship with our Heavenly Father. The work of the “Atonement” has redeemed us. The Holy Spirit has changed us through Christ, our Lord.

Be encouraged!  We can live with out guilt or condemnation. He gives us the ability to live a righteous and wholesome life. His very nature has been established within us.

Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for letting the ways of sin rule my life. Help me to reject my old nature. I wish to be an example of your redeeming power.  I know that you gave me ability to live like your Son, Jesus, my Lord. Help me to be like Him. I choose to let your righteousness live through me.  I pray in Jesus name. Amen
