Thought for the day #119

NO LONGER STRANGERS

Ephesians 2:17-19 (New American Standard Bible)

17And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of Godís household,

Are you far away from God? Do you sometimes feel all alone? Perhaps no one really cares? Does it seem as though you are unimportant and unloved?

These feelings are very common to many. Our society is filled with lonely people. Many may feel discouraged and isolated. A cloud of oppression seems to hover over them. The daily problems they face often steal the peace that is rightfully ours through Jesus Christ. Perhaps you havenít accepted Godís covenant.

We have good news!

Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, came to give us peace. It makes no difference if entangled we are in the bondage of sin. Jesus died for us. He wants us to enter into the fullness of his covenant. He came to set us free from sin and shame.

If we have not yet repented and been baptized for the remission of sin, (Acts 2:38) you are a stranger to the covenant of God. He wants you to be a member of his family. Perhaps you are already a member of His household, but have fallen into disobedience and sin. He will forgive and cleanse.

Everyone has access to the Heavenly Father by the same Spirit. The Spirit convicts of sin and leads us to accept Jesus as our redeemer and savior. The same Spirit ministers to His remnant people with gentle love and encouragement. Jesus died for us upon the cross. He bought our citizenship in the family of God.

Every member of the ďRemnantĒ has a right to all the privileges within His household. Rejoice that includes everyone in the house of Israel.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for redeeming me. Forgive my sin. Help me to live in your righteousness. Cleanse me through the blood of Jesus, my redeemer. I donít want to be a stranger but a member of your household. I know that I belong to you. I claim your love and peace. Help me to serve you with all of your saints. I pray in Jesusí name. Amen.
