Thought for the Day

Psalm 127:1-2   (New American Standard Bible)

Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. 2It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

We often forget that God has promised to take care of his own. Perhaps it is only natural that we should feel the total responsibility for our projects and ourselves.

We are different!  It is so easy to forget the great partnership that God has established with his people. We are the chosen of God. He wishes to work in partnership with us to accomplish his plan. We have a particular purpose in his “will” for his kingdom and us. Nowhere in scripture does God ask us to function in our own ability. We are reminded that “I can do all things through Him (Christ) who strengthens me”. (Philippians 4:13)

The House of Israel is a people chosen to do the work of the Lord. We have a divine purpose in our daily activities. God desires us to join with him to accomplish his will for others and us.  He wishes to reveal his power and glory through his chosen people.

His “will” and not ours! All too often we forget to include God in our plans.  We are not our own. We belong to Him. He bought us with his own blood at Calvary. He paid the ultimate price that we might have a full and abundant life. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

We, the Sons of God, will never be successful unless we remember where we get our ability and strength. We may accomplish great things in our own eyes, only to find that they have little meaning or purpose. Our endeavors, built without God’s purpose or direction are as the house built upon the sand. It has no foundation. It will not stand the test of adversity. (Matthew 7:26)

The secret for success! The Sons of God have a wonderful promise. We always have access to the direction and ability of the Holy Spirit. Everything we do has God’s support and assistance when we follow his direction and will. He has demonstrated his ability to direct and empower those who obey and serve him. We can accomplish marvelous and wondrous works for his glory.

His Spirit enables us. Our efforts are empowered when we depend upon God to bring fulfillment and victory. When we seek God’s direction and purpose in life, he will direct us in every activity and project. Our labors will accomplish much. They will be sufficient to meet our need. Every aspect of our life will be filled with success and joy. God will receive the glory!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to remember that I can do nothing with out your help. Teach me to seek your purpose and strength in all I do. I know that no matter how noble my effort, it is in vain unless it has your purpose and blessing. Lord; help me to know my frailty and to walk in your ability. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
