Thought for the Day

Hebrews 1:1,3(New American Standard Bible)

1God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. 3And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.

Have you ever wondered about God? What he looks like and what kind of an entity He might be? Have you ever tried to describe God? Do you wonder about His nature?

Our first glimpse of God! Certainly God gave us much insight into his character and existence within the Old Testament writings. We see the wonders of His creation all about us. The scriptures declare that god has made all that was made. (Genesis 1 and 2) His miracles and deliverance of the children of Israel out of bondage are very familiar to us. The Prophets of old declared both his blessing and judgment. He made covenant with his people. He is obviously a just and righteous God.He demands obedience and righteousness in his people. Yet, because God is a Spirit no man has seen him.

Then Jesus Came! Jesus is the radiance of his glory and the exact representation of his nature. All we need to do in understanding our Heavenly Father is to look at Jesus. The works of our Lord are many. The Gospels, (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) give vivid description of both the holiness and power of God.

He was pure and without sin! He was the word of God and was made flesh among us. (John 1:14) This means that God as the word of power and truth was revealed to us through the presence of a physical Lord, Jesus the Christ. Jesus revealed the plan of God, the righteousness of God, and the love of God. His conduct and teaching told of Godís compassion upon the sinful and his judgment upon sin. Our Lord illustrated the nature and character of God in every dimension.

His word upholds all things! Jesus established Godís word to our understanding. God becomes very real and wonderful when we look at our Lord and redeemer. Though the mysteries of God are many, Our Redeemer lets us know him as an all powerful, compassionate and loving Heavenly Father who sees us as His chosen people. Jesus fulfilled his covenant of the Old Testament and sealed the new covenant with His sacrificial offering for us all.†† To know and understand God, we must look at Jesus.

Prayer:Dear Heavenly Father, My mind is incapable of understanding everything about you. I know that you sent your son to redeem me. I know that you love me without measure. I know you as my Comforter, Protector and Provider. I love your sweet fellowship. Please help me to know you better as I learn more of your only begotten Son. Help me to walk in your grace and mercy. I want to be more like Jesus every day. I Pray in the name of Jesus my Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
