Thought for the Day

MAKE A BOLD ENTRANCE

Hebrews 4:15-16  (New American Standard Bible)

15For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

We live in an atmosphere of intimidation and rejection. Most, it seems are basically introverted and unsure of themselves in one way or another. Many have been told “you’re not good enough”. Some believe that they are not “worthy”. We may have heard that we should fear the “Judgment of God”. While God will certainly judge the sinful and ungodly, He is not a God to be “feared” if we belong to him.

God is our compassionate, loving Heavenly Father.  How blessed we are to be called the “Sons of God”.  One of the great wonders of God is that He loved us so much that He had great compassion for us. He saw us in our imprisonment to the law of sin and death. Not only did he send his only begotten Son to redeem us and set us free. He sent one who was willing to suffer the trials and temptations that confront each of us. Jesus, who serves as our high priest, is sensitive and compassionate. He is our advocate before the Heavenly Father. He knows exactly what we are going through. He understands our weakness and incapacity to cope with the daily onslaught of trials and temptation.

We have access to God through Jesus. Those who have been redeemed have instant access to our Heavenly Father. It is as though Jesus greets us at the door to His throne. He takes us by the hand and leads us into the presence of the Father. He says to the Father,  This is one of mine. I told them that what ever they would ask in my name I would do.  Father please receive this one and meet the need. I have cleansed and purchased this one. I ask you to welcome him (or her) and treat him as part of our family.”

Let us come boldly to the throne of God!  Our Heavenly Father is very sensitive to our need. He wants us to act like his children. We have children’s rights. His home is our home. We can come into his presence without fear. He will not reject or condemn us. He loves us and has great mercy and grace upon us. He delights in the fellowship and praises of his people.  God wants us to come unto him with confidence and faith. He welcomes us into His presence and anxiously awaits our petitions. Praise God, we are his children, his heirs, joint heirs with his Son, Jesus. He is our Heavenly Father.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Help me to learn your ways more perfectly. I know that you love me beyond measure. I want to understand your grace and mercy better. Teach me to exercise my heavenly citizenship. Help me to know your love and power in a greater way. I want to walk in the joy of your blessing. My Lord has faced everything that I face and more, yet without sin. I come to you in His righteousness. Please help me to overcome my fear and walk boldly into your presence. Thank you for this wonderful privilege. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
