Thought for the Day

KEEP YOURSELVES IN HIS LOVE

Jude 1:20-21  (New American Standard Bible)

20But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

The secret of a confident and blessed life is found in the mystery of God’s love for us. We know that His love is beyond our understanding. His love extends mercy and forgiveness to us. It envelops us with covering comfort and protection. His love flows over us, preserving and keeping us from harm and danger. We are sustained and strengthened in His love. God’s love for us becomes even more mystifying as we experience it.

How could God love me so much? We ask. The answer is beyond our understanding.

His love is not extended because of our comprehension.  We experience the benefits of this wonderful love as we walk faithfully under His covering. Jude: v.20 admonishes us to “build ourselves up in holy faith, pray in the Holy Spirit, and keep ourselves in the Love of God.”

His love is beyond measure. We must stay under His covering.

God never removes us from his love. We remove ourselves through disobedience and unbelief. He doesn’t reject us. We separate ourselves from his fellowship when we turn to our carnal ways and live in sin. His love always flows freely to us when we choose to live by His principles.   We must practice faith and build ourselves up in it. If we use our faith it grows, if we do not, it will vanish. Use it, or lose it.  Let us choose to believe His word, believe and act upon it, and we will abide under God’s covering.

The Holy Spirit is so faithful to keep us aware of our relationship with God. He leads us in our daily life. The Spirit urges us to stay in fellowship by rejecting the desires of our carnal nature. He nurtures and strengthens us. The Spirit guides us in making right decisions. He gives us ability to keep ourselves in the love of God.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your great love and all your care for me. Forgive me for trying to walk in my own strength and ability. Help me to reject the way of unrighteousness. I want to always serve you and walk in your blessing. Help me to build my faith and stay in the blessing of your love. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
