Thought for the Day # 158

A NEW BEGINNING

Romans 6:4 New American Standard Bible

4Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

We have a brand new beginning, once we have repented and been baptized for the remission of sin. As Sons of God, cleansed and forgiven for all our sin, we have been transformed from spiritual death to a new life in Christ Jesus.

The sin that once ruled us has been broken. We stand pure and clean before God.

We have the ability to turn from our sinful nature because God has broken the bondage of sin that has ruled us since birth. We are free to make decisions for righteous living because Jesus has purchased our redemption. The Holy Spirit leads us to knowledge of His will and gives us the ability to walk in it.

The righteous purity of our Lord is applied to our lives. God looks upon us as pure and clean because Jesus purchased us back to God from the sin that had imprisoned us.

Let us rejoice! We can actually live an upright and holy life because Jesus paid for the price for our sin through the atonement. He has given us a new beginning. We can start a new life with God. Our past history is erased and we are reborn into fellowship with God through Jesus Christ our redeemer.

We often wish that we could change the past and undo the many mistakes that we make in life. This is impossible. We can’t change the past. But, God can give us a new beginning. He forgives and forgets our sin of the past. He regenerates us to a new ability to live uprightly before God and man. We can actually turn away from the past and all its sinful mistakes.

We are made new in Christ, Sons of God, Joint heirs with Jesus. The scriptures tell us that “old things are passed away and all things are made new”.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I want a new beginning in my life. I do things that I know are wrong. I want to do things that are pure and right. Please forgive me for my sin. I accept your new covenant provided through Jesus Christ as my sin offering (my atonement) I know that I must repent and be baptized according to acts 2:38.

I commit myself to a new beginning.  I pray in the name of my Lord Jesus, Amen.
