2 Peter 1:1-4 (New American Standard Bible)
1Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
Our circumstances should not dictate our lifestyle.
God, who has made a way for our redemption from the bondage of sin, has also provided the ability to live a victorious, sin free life.
He has extended grace and peace to those who have entered into his righteousness through Repentance and Baptism according to acts .
We have been changed within. Our spirit has been given new life. We have been born again. This enables us to live in continual fellowship with God. In turn, God, by his spirit gives us the ability to turn from our old life of sin and it’s consequences.
A new ability to live a wholesome and pure life through the grace and peace that we have been given. The hold of our old nature has been broken. We can now live in the nature of Jesus. Because our spirit has been regenerated, we can say “no” to the temptations that destroy our peace and tranquility. The moment that we reject the actions of sin in our heart, the power of God comes rushing to our aid. He gives us the ability to make the right decision; to do the right thing.
His divine power has granted unto us everything pertaining to life and godliness. Our weakness and inability to live an overcoming and victorious life has been changed to wonderful power and strength given to us by our Heavenly Father. The old nature of sin can no longer dictate our lifestyle. We have both ability and peace beyond measure.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I want to have your peace. Help me to enter into your power, strength and blessing. I truly repent of my sin. I want live in your nature instead of my own. Help me to walk in your power and purity. I pray in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
