Thought for the day
STRENGTH FOR THE OPRESSED
Psalms 56:1-3 NASB
Be gracious to me, O God, for man has trampled upon me;
†††† Fighting all day long he oppresses me.
My foes have trampled upon me all day long,
†††† For they are many who fight proudly against me.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.
This prayer of David may very well express our situation today.
The Christians of the true House of Israel often find opposition. We are often ridiculed for our doctrinal stand. Or, perhaps our family rejects us and ceases to fellowship with us because of our belief. We may be targeted simply because we are a Christian.
The Sons of God often find themselves rejected and trampled upon as a result of Godly living. We must remember that our enemy hates us simply because we represent the righteousness of God.
Perhaps no one was more intensely oppressed than King David. His enemies were constantly trying to undermine him. They would have found great pleasure in totally destroying him, but they could not. His trust in God sustained him.
David had found the secret of trusting in God. He had learned that regardless of the attacks, his mighty God would cover and protect him. His faith was strong. His determination was unwavering. He knew that Godís overshadowing presence would always preserve him.
There are many who would like to destroy us as well. Their attacks seem endless. Their zeal to destroy is intense. Like David, we can put our trust in our Heavenly Father. No matter how much we may fear, God is always faithful.
Let us rejoice in the strength of our Lord. Surely he will be gracious unto us. He will protect and keep us. His strength and covering is ours. Just as surely as he sustained David, He will preserve his people today.
Dear Heavenly Father, I am troubled by my oppressors. I know that I have fear and worry. Please help me to remember that you are my protector. I know that I can depend upon you to give me victory. Please help me to keep my eyes upon you, as David did. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
