Thought for the Day

A SINGING HEART

Psalm 59:16    (New American Standard Bible)

But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength; Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your loving kindness in the morning, For You have been my stronghold and a refuge in the day of my distress.

It has often been said that it is easier to laugh than to cry. How true.

Many times we approach the day with sadness of heart and a heavy spirit. Sometimes, we have no idea as to why we feel so oppressed.

Actually, we have a choice as to how we will face life each day.  We can choose to be sad or we can choose to be happy.  How can we do this?

We can turn our thoughts to the wonderful victories and strength of almighty God.  Just as David dwelt on the things of the Lord, so can we.

Let us look at his many blessings and the many victories that he has provided.  Remember the times of past discouragement and think of the good things that God provided in the face of adversity.  We can be reminded that he saw us through situations that seemed impossible at the time.

His strong arms were able to keep and a protect us. His tender kindness comforted us, adding determination and encouragement to our spirit.  When no one else cared, He was there.

It is written that he will never leave us or forsake us. Surely, God is always in charge as we serve him.  He is a great stronghold when we’re weak and a loving Father when we feel so alone.

Like David, let us be determined to face each new day with a song in our heart and happiness in our step. It will be a good day because it is a day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Prayer:

My dear Heavenly Father I love you so very much. Help me to remember that you are my joy, my strength and my stronghold. Forgive me for trying to do everything in my own strength. Help me Lord, to let you direct my life according to your perfect will.  I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord. Amen.
