Thoughts for the day
FREE FROM BONDAGE
Ezekiel ††† New American Standard Bible
22ďAll his transgressions which he has committed will not be remembered against him; because of his righteousness which he has practiced, he will live.
It is written that the sins of the parents shall be visited upon their children until the third and fourth generation. (Exodus 20:5) Many of the sons of God are walking in bondage today, because of the condemnation placed upon them by this scripture.† Many seem to delight in projecting complete hopelessness for those caught in this predicament. The curse is true, but, thatís only half of the story.†
God, in his great mercy has made a way to break the bondage of this curse. Both the Old and New Testament reveal our ability to sever the bonds that hold us imprisoned by the deeds of our parents. (Ezekiel 18:20-22; Romans 8:1)
Though our history may be filled with the actions of ungodly parents, we need not reap judgment for their iniquity.
Jesus Christ has redeemed us and set us free from all bondage. Those who repent and are baptized according to Acts 2:38 are cleansed and made holy in the sight of God. He has given us the ability to turn from the wicked deeds of our fathers and walk in the righteousness of our Lord.
God holds us responsible for our own actions, not to the deeds of others, when we serve him. He who walks in righteousness shall reap a great reward.† Those who walk in the path of wickedness shall be condemned. We can no longer blame our parents for our problems and disobedience. We must take responsibility for our own actions.
The House of Israel can shout for joy. We are no longer under condemnation.† Victory and peace are ours.† Jesus has set us free. We can live an overcoming, victorious life, when we walk in His righteousness.
Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that you are holy and pure. You are Almighty God who cleanses and forgives my sin. I know that your son, Jesus the Christ, became the ultimate sacrifice and judgment for my transgressions. Help me to put my past behind me and help me to live in total freedom. I thank you for the victory that I have in you. I pray in the name of Jesus.† Amen.
