Thought for the day # 185
Psalm 46:1-3 (New American Standard Bible)
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change
And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
Though its waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.
Our heavenly father is very aware of the constant pressures and challenges we face today.
This Psalmist David had found the secret of the precious hiding place when life became unbearable. When his enemies were pressing against him for his critics were trying to discourage him he found a place with the Heavenly Father to hide away in peace and tranquility.
He discovered very early on in his life the majestic power of almighty God. He had killed the lion and the bear. The great giant, Goliath fell at his feet as he cast one stone with his sling. He had escaped Saul. Yes, God had spared his life and protected him constantly day after day.
Just as God protected David, and preserving and the day of trouble, he is constantly watching over us. He hears our faintest cry for help. His stronghold is opened immediately to enfold us with His covering.
Though we are overwhelmed with fear, and it seems like the sea of turmoil is raging against us, we can rush into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. He will cover us with his great arms of love, protecting us from the raging storm.
Dear Heavenly Father, I am overwhelmed with fear many times. I feel like the enemy is going to destroy me. Forgive me for my fear and help me to trust in you. I know that you will cover me with your love and protection. Teach me to call upon you in my time of need. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
