Thought for the day #190

THE JOY OF UNITY

Psalm 133:1-2

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!

It is like the precious oil upon the head, coming down upon the beard,

Even Aaron’s beard, coming down upon the edge of his robes.

There is little so precious as brothers walking together in agreement and one accord.  Certainly, the Sons of God should enjoy this harmonious experience.

Yet, the Kingdom of God is torn and divided by disagreements and discord. It is written that Satan has come to divide and destroy.  He goes about his business of bringing confusion upon the Saints of God every day.

We often let disagreements and differences of interpretation about spiritual truth

alienate us. Even those groups who agree doctrinally allow petty differences among themselves to tarnish their love for each other. Their peace is stolen. Confusion abounds.

Many young Christians have been so wounded by criticism and rejection that they become disillusioned with Christianity and reject the Lord Jesus Christ. They become distraught and leave the body of believers.

We must learn to walk in one accord, regardless of differences of opinion.

Unity is a matter of attitude and spiritual agreement.  It is a matter of acceptance of true brothers in Christ at any level of their spiritual development.  We do not have to agree on every issue in order to be bonded together in spiritual love and accord.

Let us look beyond petty issues and disagreements. Let us look upon the heart of those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. There is nothing more good and precious than the Family of God living together in love and unity.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, sometimes I let unimportant differences distort my relationship with my brothers in Christ. I know that everyone of us is at different levels of development and understanding. Help me to accept others where they are. I want to always enjoy your precious ointment of love and unity. I pray in Jesus name. Amen
