Thought for the day #195
CONFESSION BRINGS COMPASSION
Proverbs 28:13 (New American Standard Bible)
He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.
We are born with a sinful nature. The scriptures tell us that there is none righteous, no not one. Again, it tells us all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
This knowledge compels us to seek cleansing and forgiveness through repentance and water baptism for the remission of sin. (Acts ) once we commit ourselves to the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, we become new creatures, pure and clean before God.
Even as Christians, we still make mistakes and fall into sin. Instead of going to God in repentance, our guilty conscience compels us to hide the sin, pretending that it does not exist. We even believe that God somehow understands or that by his grace he will somehow ignore it.
Since the wages of sin is death, according to the scripture, we will reap its fruit if we conceal our transgressions. We cannot prosper. We will be affected both emotionally, physically, financially and especially spiritually.
The secret to a happy and fulfilled life is found through genuine repentance and forsaking our transgressions. God stands by with open arms, ready to receive all those who admit their error and turn from it.
Let this be a day of cleansing and healing. Let us place our transgressions upon the altar of God. His great love and grace will receive us. The redemptive work of our Lord Jesus will purify us. We can walk uprightly before God in blessing and prosperity. Joy will return to our spirit. The load of guilt and shame will disappear.
Surely, the Lord is good and gracious. His love for his own is beyond a measure.
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you with a repentant heart. I know that I have sinned. I have tried to hide and ignore it, but it becomes a larger load to carry every day. Please forgive me and restore me to a place of purity. Help me to live uprightly before you that I might prosper in every area of my life. Thank you, as I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord, Amen.
