Thought for the Day #197

REWARDED TRUST

Nahum 1:7-8   (New American Standard Bible)

The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who take refuge in Him. But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of its site, and will pursue His enemies into darkness.

We sometimes arise in the morning feeling completely besieged by the enemy.

The circumstances of life seem overwhelming.  All around us is confusion, chaos and pain.  It seems that there is nothing good for the upright. Destruction and heartache is the norm of the day. There seems to be no way out.

This is not so for the Sons of God.  He has declared to his people that he is our stronghold in the day of trouble. He has given special promise to those who trust in him. He will be their protector and covering against the works of the enemy.

How wonderful it is to know the great walls of his fortress are comforting and protecting his own.

He declares that he knows those who take refuge in him.  When we feel all alone and helpless we can come to Him with surety. He knows our name and our need. We can trust him to preserve us against the threatening enemy.

Like a raging flood, the Lord will rush in against our enemies. He will destroy the devices that the enemy raises against us.  He will completely remove the position in which they stand and chase them into utter darkness.

Surely, the goodness of the Lord and his strength is extended to us. Let our spirit be uplifted and our soul reassured that Lord will never fail us. We can face the day in perfect peace. Praise his holy name.

Prayer:

My Heavenly Father, I am surrounded by the enemy.  He is about to overwhelm me.  I am running to you for my refuge. I claim your protection according to your promise. Come against my enemies and bring them to total defeat.  I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
