Thought for the day # 201
††††††††††††††† I waited £patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me and heard my cry.2†† He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
Each of us has bewildering and insurmountable problems facing us each day.† We struggle for answers, often turning to our own understanding and the limitations of our own wisdom.†
God has given great promise to his people, declaring that he would answer when we call upon him.† Of course, such answers require an honest heart submitted in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ, our Redeemer.
We are an impatient people.† Faith often requires patience.† David knew the secret of patiently waiting upon the Lord. He was always aware that God had heard his cries.† He knew the answer was on the way. He was willing to wait patiently for it.
Patience activates and establishes our faith. Many have deserted their patience just before the answer to their prayer is to arrive.† When patience is abandoned, faith is forsaken. Consequently, Godís answer to our prayer never comes.†
Like David, we must wait patiently for the Lord, and he will direct His hearing to our cry. The destructive forces that would come against us have no power.† The miry clay of fear and intimidation are washed away by the atoning blood of Jesus. He sets our feet upon the rock of our salvation, our Redeemer, Christ Jesus. Our faith sustains us.
Let us remember that God is never early and never late. He is always on time.† Waiting patiently in His presence is one of the most productive things that we do. Such action certifies our position of trust and faith.†
Our prayers are answered as we patiently wait upon the Lord in true faith.† Let us reject doubt and fear. We must wait before him with great patience.† Patience certifies faith, it will bring forth its fruit. The answer will come. The victory is ours.
Dear Heavenly Father, I know that I am often impatient.† I let the fear of my circumstances undermine my faith. Please let your Holy Spirit remind me to wait patiently for my answer.† I know that you are compassionate and loving.† You always hear your people and meet their need.† Help me to believe and trust you to answer my prayers.† I want to overcome my fear and impatience. Keep me from destruction and set my feet firmly on You.† I pray in Jesusí name.† Amen
