Thought for the Day # 205

John 1:12 (The Holy Bible, King James Version)

12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Are you unsure of your position in the Kingdom of God? Many people are.

Our very nature longs for a sense of belonging. We want to be part of a family, to feel their love and support. We hunger for their approval. Our desire to contribute to their happiness and well being can be very intense. We need their acceptance and support.

Many people never experience the fulfillment of such desires.  Circumstances and tragedies often sever family relationships.  The family becomes nonexistent or dysfunctional.  Emptiness and loneliness become daily companions. But by His grace, there is a solution. Our lonely emptiness can be replaced with abundant joy.

God has invited us to become a part of his family. He has declared that all who receive him have the power to become the sons of God. In other words, His door is open to those who receive Jesus Christ as Redeemer and Lord. He has promised to accept all who receive him through repentance and water baptism. (Acts 2:38)

This new birth, given by our Heavenly Father, through the atoning sacrifice of his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, comes with all of the privileges of family membership. We enjoy His covering and direction. His provision for us is beyond measure, his love and mercy is dependable and enduring.

Our Father has many children. We have many siblings. As sons of God, we receive wonderful joy and fulfillment. The sweet fellowship of true family is ours. We belong both to our Heavenly Father and to each other.

Let us remember that we were chosen of God. Our membership in His family was not directed of men. We are born into His kingdom through his divine will and purpose.

We are indeed blessed. Of all the people on the earth, He has selected us to be a member of his family. His birthright and covenant belongs to us. We are the sons of God, called and set apart for his divine purpose.  Praise His wonderful name.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for choosing me as part of your family. Sometimes, I am rebellious and disobedient. I forget how blessed that I am. Please forgive me. I thank you for giving me the privilege of being a child of God, a part of your family. Help me to be a son that blesses you. I want to be an encouragement to others. Please lead me into your divine purposes for my life.    I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen
