Thought for the Day #209

Matthew 19:29    (New American Standard Bible)

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name’s sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life.

The true Christian often endures hardship and difficulty beyond measure.

We live in a time when the ungodly forces of Babylon surely rage against God’s people.  Persecution, both physical and spiritual, is part of everyday life for the true believer. Ridicule, rejection, and condemnation are heaped upon us by evil enemies.

Others freely praise and glorify their heathen gods. We as Christians dare not mention anything that reminds them of the only true Almighty God, Jehovah. To do so, brings instant rebuke, job loss, lawsuit or worse. To them, we’re the scourge of the earth and blamed for anything and everything that is wrong. They accuse us of the evil and ungodly deeds that they themselves perform.

Yes, there is a price to pay, a sacrifice to make, when we serve our Heavenly Father.

Our commitment to God may bring separation from family and friends. It may cost us our career or a place of leadership within the community, or worse.

We cannot lose by serving God. The “Day of the Lord” is surely imminent. He is coming soon. Upon his return those who have defiled His name, and persecuted His people will be brought to swift judgment, even destruction.

When pressures are heavy, and persecution hard to bear, let us be reminded of our Lord’s promise. Our reward is coming. We shall rule and reign with Him. Those things stolen from us through pressure and persecution will be returned an hundred fold.

Jesus has promised that everyone that has forsaken wife or children, houses or lands, parents or siblings for his namesake shall be rewarded and hundred fold. In addition to all of this we also receive everlasting life. Our loss is ultimate gain.

Let us lift up our heart and rejoice. Our Lord is coming back. His promises are true. No earthly price extorted can compare with His glorious covenant.  We are sealed with his shed blood. His reward is great. His promise is true.  Praise His holy name.

Let discouragement flee. Let hope abound. The word of the Lord has established it!  His people of faith shall receive multiplied restoration for every loss we have suffered.

Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for sometimes being discouraged. Help me to remember the awesome price that Jesus paid for me. I want to serve you faithfully, with joy. Let your Holy Spirit remind me of your beautiful promise and fill my heart with praise. I know my losses are unimportant because you will restore them manifold. I ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and my Redeemer. Amen
