Thought for the day # 210

Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.  For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. Hebrews 10:35-35   (New American Standard Bible)

The House of Israel was never known as a people of strong confidence and endurance.  Their impatience is well documented throughout the Old Testament. Like our ancestors, we have the same characteristics.  Our patience is short lived.

There is a secret to receiving the promises of God. It is called; “confidence”. Some might identify this word as meaning “faith”. Whatever we call it; we dare not let it go.

We are an impatient people. It is easy for us to grasp a new truth or revelation given by the Holy Spirit. We get excited and inspired.  Our spirit warms within us.  We want to share with all who will listen.  But, we have a problem.  We give up too easily.

Many of God’s people have a tendency to be impatient and frustrated when things are not going their way. We can become very animated and vocal in our impatience. Our emotions are the result of doubt and fear which is really “unbelief”.

Let us be careful to cling to our confidence. We must firmly embrace the promises of God. Tenacious stability will bring tremendous results.

We often forfeit the answer to our prayers because we throw away our confidence. Our reward for faithfulness is lost.  This usually happens just prior to God answering our prayers. We give up too soon. We should never give up at all.

God never changes.  His promises are true.  His reward is certain for those who do His will and walk in faith; those who endure and never give up confidence in him.

Be encouraged to cling to your confidence that after you have done his will, you might reap the reward of your labor.  God never fails, and he is never too late.

My precious Heavenly Father, I thank you for your wonderful promises. Surely, your Word is true. Please forgive me for sometimes yielding to doubt and fear. Help me to learn the value of patience and tenacity.  I desire to cling to your Covenants and never throw away my confidence.  I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.  Amen
