Thought for the Day # 226

FEELING  LONELY

Hebrews 13:5-6    New American Standard Bible

5Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,” 6so that we confidently say,

“The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?”

Loneliness is perhaps the most often felt emotion among our people today.  Amazingly, we can be in the midst of a large crowd, and feel so intensely alone that we almost panic.

Fear is another emotion very closely associated with loneliness.  God does not intend for us to experience either. Such feelings imprison us into a web of insecurity and protectionism. We want to build a wall of isolation about us that would insulate us from the pain of being alone in a very crowded society.

Our Heavenly Father has made it very clear that we need not fear. We are not dependent upon our self sufficiency. Neither does he want us to endure the anguish of loneliness. He wants us to rely upon him.

He has declared “I will never leave you, nor will I ever forsake you.” Such reassurance and covenant promise should cause us to boldly trust him.  What greater comfort can we find, than knowing Almighty God is so concerned about those who serve him? We know that he is trustworthy and faithful.

We all face very difficult situations on a daily basis. There is little doubt that many of our problems are far beyond our capacity to cope. We are confronted with many areas of need for which we have no answer. Only God can provide one.

Therefore let us make a determination today! Since God has given a promise that he will never leave or forsake me, I shall trust him. I will walk in his ability, not mine. I will remember that he is my helper and he is always present in my time of need. I belong to Him. He loves me. He watches over me. He is always there when I need him!

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I often fail to remember who I am. I lean upon my own understanding and ability. I feel so helpless and alone. Thank you for your promise to never leave me. Help me to always remember that you care. Teach me how to put my trust in you more effectively. Forgive me for my fear and unbelief. Teach me how to surrender to your leadership and wisdom for my daily life. I pray and Jesus name’. Amen.
