Thought for the Day # 228
†LET YOUR JOY BE COMPLETE
1 John 1:3-4††† New American Standard Bible
3what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.
4These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.
The human spirit longs to have fellowship.
We live in an age where most people find it difficult to experience fellowship with another. Outside pressures and multiple responsibilities close in about us. There is little time left to develop true friendships. Yet, our inner being cries out for personal camaraderie one with another.
This is particularly difficult with devout Christians of our day. Schedules and distance often hinder the ability to enjoy each otherís fellowship. None of the high tech systems of the day can take the place of joining in personal dialogue.
Todayís text reminds us that indeed, we should enjoy fellowship with each other. But, more importantly, our fellowship with our Heavenly Father is intimate and precious.
Sharing experiences and new insight into the scriptures are particularly fulfilling.† However, nothing is as beautiful as the sweet fellowship we experience through the Holy Spirit.
He makes us aware of the wonderful love of God.† His Word becomes alive to us.† We are reminded that He never leaves us, that he is always present with us.† The touch of His spirit blends sweet communion with ours. We know that we belong to Him and he belongs to us.
Our joy becomes full and complete because of the ever- present love of God that bathes our hearts. His family is our family.† His spirit bonds us together in him.†
Distance may separate us from personal contact with each other, but the Spirit of the Lord comforts and sustains us. Our Heavenly Father is the source of pure fellowship. He is in us. We abide in him.† His spirit brings us together as family.† Our joy is always complete. Fellowship with His people is an added blessing to be highly treasured.
My Heavenly Father, I thank you for always being with me and filling my heart with joy.† I love to fellowship with you and your people.† I sense your loving presence is with me, even when I am alone.† I want to spend more time with you and enjoy your friendship. Help me to get my priorities straight. I want to abide in you, always. I pray in Jesus name.† Amen.†
