Thought for the day # 231

WAITING FOR THE PROMISE

Hebrews 10:35-36††† (New American Standard Bible)

35Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.

36For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.

Our nature demands instant response.Patience is very difficult for most of us.

Many Christians never realize the answer to their prayers because they lose confidence in the conviction within their spirit that God has heard them pray.

Impatience and frustration weakens oneís faith. Those things, which seemed so attainable and promised of God, become distant and impossible to receive, all because one has discarded confidence.

Godís timing often differs from ours. He knows what is best and when the time is right, He will provide the answer that he has for us. We are limited in our understanding of most circumstances, often coming to conclusions that are not very accurate.

Once we pray, and have done those things, which we know are right in the sight of God, we must be prepared to endure patiently until God answers.

The key to answered prayer is doing the will of God. When you know that you have done that which is pleasing unto Him; that which his Spirit directed you to do,

the answer will come in due time.

Giving up impatiently on Godís response cancels oneís petition. We often cancel our request just before the answer is to come.

Always hold fast to the knowledge that after you have been obedient, having kept your commitment to God, that the answer is yours. God is always on time. Remember, his timing often differs with yours. Trust him. Hang on to His promise. Endure patiently in strong faith, and you will receive his promise.

Prayer:

My Heavenly Father, I know that I am an impatient person. I let my frustrations control me. Help me to hear your Spirit plainly. I want to know when I have done your will. Help me to recognize when I simply need to wait for the answer. Give me the courage to endure until it comes. I know you are always faithful. I pray in Jesusí name. Amen.
