Thought for the day #236

Luke 10:18-19    New American Standard Bible

And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.

The greatest army on earth has become inept and weak. Bridled with fear; it proceeds to battle with great trepidation and cowering insecurity.  It is ill-equipped, unaware of its enemy, and totally unprepared for battle.

Its energy is spent fighting many different battles.  The enemy’s diversions keep it occupied with inconsequential skirmishes.  It stands divided without leadership or direction. Each little squad fights to defeat its blurred target.

We, of the House of Israel are such an army.  God has given us total authority over the enemy.  He has adequately equipped us with the weapons of warfare. (Ephesians 6:14-18) We have His complete covering and protection. Our provisions are certified and available.

Most of the difficulties that Christians face are hardships and temptations pressed upon us by the enemy.  These things take many forms.  They may be emotional, spiritual, physical or financial in nature.  Often disguised as normal circumstances of life, they are actually being used as weapons of war against us.

Our target must be clearly defined.  It is Satan, the power of evil and darkness, and all of his ungodly serpents and scorpions. We are the army of God.  It is time to get off of “defense" and go on the “offense".

Our battle is a spiritual one.  The victory has already been won through our Lord Jesus Christ. We must take action and appropriate it. Be encouraged to put on the whole armor of God, become equipped with his provisions and go into battle under the direction and power of the Holy Spirit.

Recognize your authority.  God has given you all power over the enemy.  Don’t be timid or fearful.  Take the promise of God. Accept your position of authority. Stand firm in the face of the enemy, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) The victory has already been won.  Claim it and rejoice. Our God reigns!

Heavenly Father, I know that I am weak and timid.  I have not fought the battle of faith very well. I haven't really clothed myself with your armor. Please help me to take my rightful position as a Son of God.  I want to walk in the power you've given me and use your authority. Give me the insight, understanding and wisdom to win my battles, with your help.  I Pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, My Lord and Redeemer.  Amen.
