Thought for the Day #248
HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS FULLFILLED
Romans 8:3-4†††† The Holy Bible, King James Version
3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: †4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Everyone knows the weakness of the flesh.† It is like a yoke around our neck.† Its weight wears us down. No matter how hard we try, we cannot free ourselves of its transgressions.† Its power imprisons us in the bondage of sin.† What a hopeless situation.
The law was given to us that we might know the dimension of sin.† It produces death and destruction.† No matter how much we want to do the right thing, its bondage overrules.† Our greatest efforts fail us.† But, Jesus changed everything.
are no longer under the law of sin and death. God sent Jesus in the flesh to destroy the bondage of the
law and the condemnation of sin.† He
became the ultimate sacrifice, perfect in every deed.† He shed his blood on the cross of
Through Jesusí atoning grace, we have become the righteousness of God in him.† Now, as we live a godly life in the righteousness of Jesus our Lord, we actually condemn sin in the flesh.† The righteousness of the law is fulfilled in us.
We must be careful to walk in the power of His Spirit and not after the weakness of our carnal flesh.† We condemn sin through the godly life that we enjoy. The chains of bondage have been loosed upon everyone who has been born again. (Acts 2:38)
Just as Jesus condemned sin in the flesh by living a perfect, sinless life, we can glorify his name by walking in the righteous liberty of his cleansing blood. The judgment of the law has been broken. We have been set free. Condemnation is gone.
The glorious victory of our Lord Jesus Christ has been attained.† Rejoice and be glad, you are the righteousness of God in Christ.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for sending Jesus to fulfill the righteousness of the law in us. Sometimes I am weak in my faith.† I slip back into the bondage of sin.† Please forgive me.† Renew my spirit within that I might live daily for you.† I count it a privilege to be one of your children.† I want to live every day in the victory of my Lord.† I pray in the name of Jesus.† Amen.
