Thought for the Day #249

WHO AM I?

Romans 8:16-17    The Holy Bible, King James Version

16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Who am I? Why am I here? Have you ever asked yourself this age old question? Most people have.

Those who have repented and been baptized according to the Scripture found in Acts 2:38 have no question as to who they are.  They are the children of God.

The Holy Spirit has cleansed them from sin through the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Lord.  He gives witness to our restored Spirit that we have truly been "born again". We have become the children of God.

Not only are we His children, we have been given a position in his Kingdom. As heirs of God, we have all the privileges afforded to Jesus, his only begotten son.

We are equal heirs with Him. His righteousness has become our righteousness.  His ability has become our ability.  His authority has become our authority.  His privilege his become our privilege.

Through his name we have access to the very throne of God. Every blessing and Covenant promise has become our personal possession.   We are the household of Israel, cleansed and sanctified for the glory of God.

Everyone who identifies with Jesus Christ will suffer hardship and persecution. Those who are willing to suffer for His cause, actually identify themselves with the agony that he endured for us.

When the way seems hard and difficult and you wonder if it's worth it all, remember the great price that was paid that you might identify with Him. Through His suffering, we have been given a priceless birthright.

We shall rule in His Kingdom, and we shall be glorified together as he is glorified by the Father. The scripture declares that those who are faithful shall rule over many with all the honor and glory that goes with such a lofty position.

The trials we experience are a small thing compared to the great glory that we shall share with Him through the ages of eternity. Surely, we can rejoice in the time of difficulty.  Remember who you are in Jesus!  You are joint heir with Him!
