Thought for the day #255

Romans 6:12-13   (New American Standard Bible)

12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts,

13and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

14For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Once we are redeemed from sin (Romans 2:38). We become free from the law of sin and death.  We have been given new life.  That new life gives us power and strength to say “No!” to sin.

No longer do we have to yield to our sinful desires.  God gives us complete control of our life. We are brought into sweet fellowship with Him by his Spirit. He has given us the discipline to direct our activities in the way of righteousness.

Our mind, body and Spirit have the capacity to fellowship with God, and be guided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit for the very first time.  Ability to turn away from temptation is implanted within us.

The lust for sin and self gratification must come into submission. When we refuse to yield our selves to the sinful demands of our carnal nature, we, as Christians, can say “No!” to the law of sin.

A new spirit abides within us through the righteousness of Jesus Christ.  Old things have passed away, and all things are become new.                 (2 Corinthians  5:17). We have traded the curse of death for the blessing of eternal life through the redemptive work of Jesus, our Lord.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for changing my life.  Help me to understand that I no longer have to yield to the temptation of sin.  Teach me to be strong in my convictions, and to reject the old way of life.  I want to live in the righteousness of new life given me by the Lord Jesus, my Redeemer.  I pray in the name of Jesus.  Amen
