Thought for the day #258
† ULTIMATE CONDITIONING
James 1:2-4† ††(New American Standard Bible)
2Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,
†3knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
†4And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Physical conditioning seems to be the priority of everyone today. Countless hours and millions of dollars are spent by those trying to get in shape. Much energy, anguish, and a great deal of pain are expended in this effort. Most people think nothing of the sacrifice required to accomplish their goal.
Why then, do we become so concerned when facing various difficulties in life?† Those problems produced by normal daily circumstances are considered to be catastrophic disaster. We complain that life is unfair, too difficult and very unbearable.
The Scriptures makes it plain that God will not allow anything to come upon us that we are unable to bear.† We need to remember that our character and spiritual†† development is most important. The teaching that implies people of faith have no trials is a lie.
Look at whatever challenge you face in the course of daily life as an endurance course for successful Christian living.† It is God's opportunity to reveal his sovereign power and ability.† It is his opportunity to bring you into spiritual maturity.
We should count it a privilege to be considered worthy to face daily trials. God is developing us.† He is strengthening our faith and building our spiritual stability. He is preparing and equipping his army for spiritual warfare.
Remember that the testing of your faith produces endurance.† And, endurance brings forth perfect victory resulting in a complete and fulfilled life. Such conditioning should be a looked upon with excitement and joy.† It is God's opportunity to show himself faithful in providing for his own.
Trials of the day afford us opportunity to become a proven, qualified soldier in His Kingdom service.† Oh, that we might prove ourselves worthy to do battle in the name of the Lord Jesus, our Redeemer.
My Wonderful Heavenly Father, forgive me for my defeatist and selfish attitude.† I have resented the difficult trials before me.† I never realized that you were using them to mold and shape my life.† Please help me to remember that they strengthen my faith and endurance.† I want to bring honor and glory to you.† I pray in Jesusí name.† Amen.
