Thought for the day #263

Ephesians 2:20-22    (New American Standard Bible)

20having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,  21in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,  22in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.

Many people think of the holy Temple as their church building or some great cathedral. Some believe that it is yet to be built in Jerusalem. They are convinced that it is to be the reconstruction of the Temple destroyed in 70 A.D.

The Scripture reveals that there is a Temple far greater than any building of brick or stone. Man could never construct an architectural wonder of such magnitude. . It is the Temple of God's dwelling.

Every believer is part of God's great holy Temple. Having repented and been baptized for the remission of sin, we become a dwelling place of God.  Each believer is a building block in this great structure. Its cornerstone is Jesus Christ. Its foundation is the Word of God declared by the Prophets and the Apostles.

The Holy Spirit is very carefully developing and maturing every believer to fit perfectly in its construction. God is forming each one of his people to join in unity with others in his kingdom.

Together, we are growing into a holy Temple of God, providing a place for his indwelling Holy Spirit.

Each challenge or trial that we face as a believer is a tool of God. He uses these situations to mold and reshape our spiritual capacity. Such experiences, whether applied by God, or brought upon us by our own action, refine us for his use. Certainly, the attacks of the enemy upon our lives, though hard to bear, become a tool in his hands.

Serve the Lord with patient faithfulness. He is turning those things which are hard for us to endure into good things. He is forming and shaping us into a perfect vessel for the habitation of his Holy Spirit.

Prayer:   Dear God, sometimes I get discouraged and frustrated with the things that I have to face. I forget that you use these things to perfect me for your use. Forgive me for being resentful. I want to be a beautiful part of your holy Temple. Help me to yield to your skillful hand. Shape me for your use. I pray in the name of Jesus, my Redeemer. Amen.
