Thought for the day #269

2 Timothy 1:8-9      (New American Standard Bible)

8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,

9who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,

Many Christians work very energetically to earn the blessings of God.

They are caught up with the belief that they can earn God's favor by what they do. It is not at all hard to realize that this becomes a very frustrating situation.

While the Scripture does declare that we will be rewarded according to one’s faithfulness and that faith without works is dead, we must realize that this truth is based upon the foundation of God's direction and purpose in one's life.

Some have said, "The harder I work for God, the more frustrated I become." You see the grace and blessing of God is given to us, because Jesus Christ died that we might have life and have it more abundantly. We cannot earn it.

Perhaps we would be much happier and more fulfilled. If we took time to ask God, about His purpose and direction of our life.

Many Christians spend a lifetime working in the Kingdom of God, but not fulfilling the purpose for which God made them.

Suggestion: Seek the Lord in prayer, ask him for direction and purpose, and then direct your efforts of work, according to His will.

If one can discover the direction that the Holy Spirit is leading. one will accomplish much more and find contentment and pleasure in performing it.

Prayer: My Heavenly Father, I really want to be effective in your Kingdom. I have dedicated myself to work for you. Please help me to know how you wish to use me for your purposes. I want my labor to be efficient and productive. Give me wisdom to serve you well. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
