WATERING DRY GROUND
Isaiah 44:2-4 (New American Standard Bible)
2 Thus says the LORD who made you
And formed you from the womb, who will help you,
‘Do not fear, O Jacob My servant;
And you Jeshurun whom I have chosen.
3 ‘For I will pour out water on the thirsty land
And streams on the dry ground;
I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring
And My blessing on your descendants;
4 And they will spring up among the grass
Like poplars by streams of water.’
Discouragement in the House of Israel seems to be the attitude of the day.
Let us take note that we are God's chosen people, set apart to worship and serve him. The Scripture says that we are the “Apple of His eye”; his favored ones.
The prophet Isaiah teaches us that our Lord made us from the womb. He established us for his purpose and glory. We are preserved by his hand. He will never fail to provide for his own.
You may be going through a difficult experience. Perhaps a financial need or physical sickness has encompassed you. It is possible that your spirit seems to be dry within you. Joy has departed, frustration and fear have arrived.
Take hold of this promise today.
Our heavenly Father declares that he will pour out water upon the thirsty land,
and streams on the dry ground. His Spirit is poured out upon the offspring of
Rejoice, turn to the Lord. Praise Him for your heritage, and the promise of his covenant. Let your heart spring forth with gladness. You belong to Him! Indeed, you stand by the refreshing streams of His Spirit, sustained by the waters of everlasting life.
Dear Heavenly Father, I've grown weary fighting the battle of life. I forget your covenant promise to sustain and keep me. Forgive me. I want to turn my sorrow into joy and my complaining into praise. I know that you are the God most high. I am your child. You will never cease to meet my need. You will establish me by the refreshing stream of blessing. I praise your name for choosing me as your child. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
