Thought for the Day #296

Philippians 4:12    (New American Standard Bible)

12I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.

Our present circumstance often dictates our actions. This is unavoidable. The secret to a happy, overcoming life is the ability to face circumstance with confidence and faith, that regardless of the moment, we shall overcome and succeed in every situation.

The attitude in which we face these things will determine our level of fulfillment and satisfaction experienced in daily living.

The apostle Paul gives us great insight in handling varied situations which come our way. He had good days and bad days just as everyone else. He lived a constant life regardless of what the day might bring.

When things are going badly, and we are in need, our faith can remain constant. Depression and worry are overcome by the assurance that God is in control.

Abundance and success often bring the euphoria of excitement that exceeds self-control. It has been said that what goes up must come down. And so it is with our attitude and emotions.

It is not good to allow instability promoted by circumstance, whether good or bad, to rule our lives. Unshakable faith provides a constant level of stability. When things are difficult, we can live above them. Great abundance and victory is handled with good judgment and wisdom.

Our particular situation does not change God. He is able to sustain us when things are difficult and keep us humble when we experience great blessing.

With God's help, we can face every day with confidence. Difficult moments will not bring defeat and discouragement. Great victory and excitement will not produce foolish waste or reckless action. We shall remain constant and unwavering in faith and action.

Dear Heavenly Father, I realize that I allow daily events to rule my lifestyle. I do become easily discouraged and/or overly excited, depending upon the circumstance. I want to be a stable Christian who walks in strong faith. Please help me to remember that you are greater than any situation. I want to remain consistent in my daily attitudes and decisions. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
