Thought for the day #297

FOOLISH YOUTH

Psalm 34:10     (New American Standard Bibl)

10          The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;

            But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing.

Youthful vigor may produce great excitement and pleasure, but rarely provides desired stability and fulfillment.

It is easy for the young to squander their abilities and assets in the foolish excitement of youthful exuberance. Lack of maturity often results in poor decisions.

Age does bring a certain maturity. Good judgment   improves with experience.

Wisdom develops over time. Appreciation for life's accomplishments becomes more pronounced. Hopefully, stability is eventually established.

Just as the young lion is more interested in playful activity than the sustenance of life, the young person often thinks only about the pleasures of the moment. They give no consideration for the need of the future.

Present assets are recklessly used with no thought of tomorrow's need. Waste and misuse is common. Certain contempt for maturity and good judgment often abounds. As a result, God's abundant provision is often wasted in the carelessness of the moment.

One can never recall thoughtless decisions after they are activated.

The young would be wise to heed the wisdom of those who are more mature. Foolish living always produces pain and suffering. It is the birthplace of remorse.

Regardless of our age, let us give proper value and appreciation to God's provisions, He expects us to be good stewards, using our assets wisely. God always brings increase to those who value his blessing.

Prayer:

Dear God in heaven, I'm guilty of living foolishly, with no thought of tomorrow. I have wasted your blessing. Please forgive me. Help me to remember that the young lion often suffers pain and hunger because of foolish immaturity. Help me to learn from those who have more experience and wisdom. I pray in the name of Jesus, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen
