Thought for the Day #300

CLING TO GOOD THINGS

8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. Phil 4:8-9 (NAS)

Have you noticed? Everything around us is negative. The mongers of fear try to intimidate and discourage God's people at every turn.

Every form of the media spreads their message. They would have us believe that everything we eat is going to give us some kind of sickness. Everywhere we go is dangerous. And everything we do will come back to haunt us with hurt and defeat.

They are trying to brainwash us into believing that everything is hopeless and without remedy. They want us to crawl into a shell and keep quiet, with no hope for the future.

America is surely going down the tubes, cascading into the pitfalls of terror and evil, but we need not fear.

God's people can live in surety and faith. The covenant of God is still true. His Word is infallible. His power is unconquerable. His covering is impenetrable.

The instruction given by the apostle Paul in the above scripture is one that we can hang on to. Let us absorb it carefully and apply it to our lives daily.

The Holy Spirit will guide us into the ability to separate the truth from the lie. He will give wisdom and comfort and the surety of God's presence, to direct and protect us throughout each day.

We are His children, the very apple of his eye! He is a jealous God, who watches over his own with great intensity.

Let your mind dwell on the good things that He has promised to those who serve him. They are Covenant commitments from God. He will not fail you.

Trust Him with your whole heart and rejoice. Victory belongs to all those in the house of Israel, who are faithful and true.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I am constantly discouraged and live in fear. This scripture reminds me that I serve you, Almighty God. I do want to look at the positive things and live in the security of your Covenant. Forgive me for being intimidated by Satan and all the enemies of God. Help me to reject their lies and live boldly for you. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, my lord.   Amen.
