Thought for the Day #304
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." ††††††††††††††††††††††††††††(Matt 11:28-30†† RSV)
It is very easy to grow tired and weary when dealing with the varied responsibilities and obligations of life. This is especially true when ministering for the Lord.
It should be particularly comforting to know that God understands the load you carry and the impact it has upon your physical body.
Jesus was tempted and tried in every way such as we are. He knows the weariness and pains that human flesh experiences. He knows the physical and mental drain that comes from doing battle with the enemy of our soul.
Our Lord was tempted and tried in every way that we are.
Sometimes, we tend to believe that we must carry others burden and obligation.† This is not true. Jesus is our burden bearer. He carries our load and helps to shoulder our exhaustion.
Others will burden us down with a load of care and responsibility that we cannot carry. Jesus never will! He knows our limitation and will never press us to its limit.
He wants us to come to him when the load becomes heavy. His way is much more considerate and compassionate than the ways of men.
Those who serve the Lord should remember that his yoke is easy and his load is light. He wants us to walk in peace and rest. Others might overburden us. Jesus, our Lord never will.
Learn to serve Him according to the direction of his spirit. Your ability will soar to new heights. Your stress level will greatly diminish when you realize that Jesus is the only one that you must please.
Keep your eyes and ears upon Him and enjoy his rest and peace.
Oh, Lord God, I am so tired and weary. I know that I need to depend upon you to give me rest and strength. Help me remember that your ways are better than mine.† I want to learn your way more perfectly. In Jesusí name I pray. Amen.
