Thought for the Day #306

Rom 8:2-3 (New American Standard Bible)

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

Bondage is a terrible thing. Most people would agree that the last-place anyone wants to be is under bondage to a power other than our own.

We love freedom and enjoy being independent and self-sufficient. We are determined, as believers, to separate ourselves from anything that represents the Babylonian system of the Day, especially that which would steal our freedom and bring us into bondage.

The chances are that you are under bondage of some sort even now. Most Christians feel that their spiritual lives are tremendously limited by the carnal nature of their flesh. Weakness of our willpower is such that they feel trapped in unwholesome habits and situations.

They feel enslaved to their particular set of circumstances. Discouragement and frustration overwhelms them. They feel condemned over their inability to overcome their bondage. This is a trick of the enemy to steal their victory.

We do not have to live this way anymore. Jesus came and paid the ultimate price that we might live in his strength instead of our own weakness. There is a new law. It is law of righteousness and victory. It is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

He has broken the law of sin and death, conquered it once and for all. Let us walk in his strength and the purity of his victory. We can say “no” to those things which hold us in bondage. We can rejoice in the victory that Jesus has purchased for us.

Let this be the Day that we turn are back on discouragement and frustration and enter into a new life of joy and fulfillment through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Oh, Lord God in heaven, I am frustrated. I've tried to overcome my weakness and live my life victoriously. Help me to remember that I cannot do it in my own strength. Teach me how to draw strength in the Spirit through Jesus Christ my Lord. Help me to exercise strong faith. I want to live in your ability rather than mine. I pray in Jesus name. Amen
