Thought for the Day #311
21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him."
There is an old saying "If you talk the talk you better walk the walk."
Many Christians wonder why they do not feel the closeness that they desire with the Lord. There seems to be no great sin in their life. They read the Bible, pray on occasion, and attend church.
Yet, there is no awareness of the presence of the Lord in their daily life.
It takes more than going through the motions of Christianity to experience sweet fellowship with our Lord and Almighty God.
The above Scripture makes this very plain. We must not only have and to know the commandments of God, we must also keep them.
We establish and prove our love for God by our daily actions. If we live by his commandments, we show love to the Father, and to our Lord. We have become a loyal disciple who is faithful in Christian commitment.
Jesus then shows his love for us, and reveals himself in a more intimate way. He discloses the great dimension of his power and grace to all who remember the commandments of the Father and do them.
Seek to be an obedient servant, and your life will be enriched with close fellowship in Jesus your Lord, and Redeemer.
Almighty God, I hunger for a deeper relationship with my Lord. Sometimes I talk a good Christian testimony, but I must confess; I do not always keep your commandments. Forgive me for my shortcoming obedience and failures. I pledged to walk a more consistent life in Christ Jesus, my Redeemer I pray in his name. Amen.
