Thought for the Day #326

Ps 138:7-8   (New American Standard Bible)

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou wilt revive me;

Thou wilt stretch forth Thy hand against the wrath of my enemies,

And Thy right hand will save me. 8 The LORD will accomplish what concerns me;

Thy lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Thy hands.

You have probably heard people say, "My name is trouble”. They make such comments because trouble has become the predominant element in their life. They never seem to be free from it.

Sometimes it seems that no matter what we do it ends up making trouble for us. Those who experience these kinds of difficulties often feel that they are doomed to have trouble no matter what they do.

One who leans upon their own ability and understanding often bring these problems upon themselves. Discouragement, lack of motivation, and a general feeling of constant defeat can cause anyone to sink into the quagmire of hopelessness.

Christians are not exempt from problems and troubles. Everyone faces the difficulties of life. There is no escaping it. Surely, the daily confrontations and frustrating situations are very much a part of daily living. And, of course our enemies are always present.

The one who serves God has a great advantage. That person is not limited to their own ability. They have the great strength of God, the covering of his Covenant, and his commitment to care for his own, to their advantage.

God always answers those who call upon him in true faith. Just as the psalmist David found that when he was embattled by his enemies and things looked very difficult, he could call upon the Lord and he would answer with great ability. So can you.

Not only will God give you protection and strength, he will bring wisdom and understanding. He will lead you through troubled waters and give wonderful direction to guide your decision making. He will bring retribution upon your enemies. And cause them to be ineffective against you.

Look beyond your troubles, and you will find the strong arm of God to support you.

Oh Lord my God, you know that I am overwhelmed by the problems that I face. I have done everything I can to release myself from their bondage. I need your help Lord. I choose to lean upon you, and trust you to take care of my problems that the enemy brings against me. Forgive me for creating the trials that I have caused by my own ignorance. Give me wisdom, courage and faith to trust you. Justify me before my enemies. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
