Thought for the Day #350

Isaiah 30:19-22 (New American Standard Bible)

19 O people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you. 20 Although the Lord has given you bread of privation and water of oppression, He, your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher. 21 And your ears will hear a word behind you, "This is the way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right or to the left.

The trials and pressures of life can be so overwhelming that we find it difficult to function.  Our mind becomes confused, and our spirit, heavy laden with despondency.

You are not the first to feel the oppressive forces of darkness and its overwhelming confusion.  Many Christians have cried,  “What have I done, why is this happening to me?”

Sometimes our problems are of our own doing.  We disobey God or violate his statutes.  Perhaps we have been rebellious in our spirit or refused to repent when we knew we were wrong. Sometimes they are not. It may be that you can find nothing in your life, which would have produced the situation that you’re in. Nevertheless, God is gracious and forgiving. He will forgive, guide and direct you, if you ask him to.

You may be perfectly at peace with the Lord, but are bewildered about the decisions that you should make.  You just want to be sure that you’re walking in the will of God.

He has promised to teach you his ways and to guide you in the path that you should go.  Concentrate on learning the sound of his voice as He whispers softly to your spirit. He will gently guide you into the center of his will. If you begin to make a wrong decision, He will cause you to be at unrest within your spirit.  When you choose the right path, perfect peace will abide. He has promised, and you can trust him, to direct your path.

Heavenly Father, I come in the name of Jesus my Lord.  I need direction in my life.  I want to do that which is right in your sight.  I want to make the right decisions for my life.  Help me to know your will for me.  If my situation is the result of sin or disobedience, I ask you to forgive me NOW.  Let me know the sound of your voice.  Make your directives so plain that I will have no question about them.  I thank you for your guidance, but above all, I thank you for your redeeming love.  I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.  Amen.
