Thought for the Day #351
RESTORED, BUT RESPONSIBLE
†Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. 5 For each one shall bear his own load. 6 And let the one who is taught the word share all good things with him who teaches.
We must not be quick to judge those who make mistakes.† Sometimes we hear more criticism than encouragement directed to those who donít measure up to our standards. This is wrong.† But for the grace of God, those who criticize could be in the same position as the one which they attack, or worse.
Our Christian response to the one in error should be to encourage, instruct and guide. Prayer and compassion are in order.
We can never blame another for our own faults. God will judge us on our own merits.† Each will answer to God for their own deeds. Nevertheless, those who are spiritual are required to assist those who are not spiritual. Every Christian should be a developer not a destroyer. Encouraging words of instruction develop, words of criticism destroy.
Those who know the Word of God, and have learned His ways are responsible to teach those who have not yet come to that point of understanding. Share the good things of the Lord with those who are struggling in their spiritual development.
Almighty God, I thank you for your loving-kindness.† I rejoice in the Lord Jesus Christ, who has cleansed me from my Sin and redeemed me through his shed blood. Forgive me for sometimes being critical of others. Help me to teach them, instead of finding fault. Let your Holy Spirit remind me of my own faults that I might take action and correct, my ways. Let me be an example and encouragement to those who are struggling to serve you.† I ask all of this through the name of your only begotten son, Jesus, My Lord and Redeemer.† Amen.
