Thought for the Day #352
POWER TO WITNESS
8 but you shall receive
power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses
Every Christian knows that they should witness to others about the love of God and the redeeming power of the Lord Jesus Christ. Many find it difficult, because of timidity or lack of experience.† They feel too weak and incapable to share their experience in the redemptive work of God.
We are not required to witness in our own strength.† God does not need our ability; he needs us to be a vessel that the Holy Spirit can empower.
With His command to go forth and preach the gospel, even to the outermost part of the earth; he also declared that he would give the power of the Holy Spirit to us.† He does not expect us to labor in our own ability, but promises, that his Spirit will empower us to minister for him.
Those who hunger to have a purpose in ministry feel that urgency because it is directed of God for us to be active within his kingdom. The infilling of the Holy Spirit, brings boldness and ability. It provides authority and power.
He will guide you as you speak and cause the hearer to understand your message. Never be concerned about how you delivered the message after the fact. Our obligation is to deliver the word to those who have not heard.† It is then, their responsibility to accept or reject it.
We will reap a great harvest; if we deliver the message of Godís redeeming Grace in the power and the ability of the Holy Spirit. We are just the messenger.† Jesus is the Redeemer. The Holy Spirit will cause some of the seed that we sow, to fall on good ground. Remember every seed produces more than itself.
Dear Lord God in heaven, fill me with the power of your Holy Spirit.† I do have a hunger to serve you.† I want to see others redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ.† Help me to give a clear witness with power and authority.† Let it penetrate the heart and understanding of those who hear it. Help me to remember that you are the one that enables me.† I know that I am not strong or wise enough to witness for you in my own ability.† I ask your Holy Spirit to help me. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for redeeming me.† I pray in the name of Jesus.† Amen.
