Thought for the Day #357

Philippians 2:5-8 King James Version

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Let us rejoice in the Lord for all he has given us. The one thing that is ours; that no one can take from us, is our redemptive salvation that He purchased for us at the cross.

No matter how blessed and abundant our life, we must always exercise a spirit of humility. There is nothing of this worlds goods that is really ours. We merely have the use of it for a time.

The years will soon take their toll and we shall pass from this life to spend eternity somewhere, leaving everything we call our own for someone else to appropriate.

We must be careful to avoid prideful attitudes and arrogant practices. True humility and thankful expression should rule our life. Jesus set aside all his glory and power to die for us. Through his humility and horrible death we have eternal life.

If Jesus could humble himself to die for us, surely we can be humble enough to live for Him. He has clothed us in his righteousness that we might share in His glory.

My Loving Heavenly Father, I thank you for the possessions of this world that you have allowed me to have. Sometimes I forget that they are just borrowed for a season. Thank you for reminding me that all that I am, or have, is the result of your love and grace.   Forgive me for being proud and arrogant sometimes. Help me to always give you the praise. I want to walk in your humility. Help me to have the attitude of a true servant in your kingdom. I pray in Jesus Name. Amen.
