Thought for the Day #360
ARE YOU WITHOUT HONOR?
Mark 6:4-6 (new American Standard Bible)
4 And Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his home town and among his own relatives and in his own household." 5 And He could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands upon a few sick people and healed them.
Perhaps you have been confronted with rejection as you try to share your faith with family and friends.† If so, you have no doubt felt the contempt of those to whom you are witnessing.
You should be neither alarmed nor surprised.† You see, Jesus met the same resistance when he tried to minister to those in his own land. This rejection made it impossible for him to minister to many people. He was limited to laying hands on a few sick people and healing them. Does this mean that we should not try to reach our own family?† Of course not, but we shouldnít be surprised if we face opposition.
Donít be discouraged!† If Jesus faced this kind of resistance, we certainly should not be surprised when we are rebuffed.
Let your actions, which always speak out louder than words, do the witnessing for you.† Pray that God would soften their hearts and open their understanding.† Be faithful in all you do, and set the example that will lead them into righteousness.
Pray diligently that God would convict them of their sin and cause them to open their hearts to the truth of his Word.
Commit them unto the Lord, and believe that they shall be saved.
God often sends others to minister to our loved ones, because we have sought him in prayer for their redemption.† Donít be discouraged.† Donít lose your faith.† Live uprightly before the Lord in the presence of your family.
God will find a way to reach them that they might be saved.
Dear Lord in Heaven, I come to you with a feeling of despair, because my loved ones will not listen to me.† I want them to experience the truth that I have found.
I long for their deliverance from sin. Help me, oh Lord, to live uprightly before them.† Give me wisdom as I talk to them about you.† I want my life to be a living testimony of your loving grace.† I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.† Amen.
