Thought for the Day #363
RESTING IN HIS GLORY
1 Peter 4:14-15 (New American Standard Bible)
14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
Many Christians have been led to believe that there is something wrong with their faith, if they face any kind of hardship or persecution, because of serving the Lord Jesus Christ, their Redeemer.
The opposite is true! We are persecuted because of our faith. The very act of accepting Jesus Christ as our savior, separates us from the ways of Satan, and his ungodly forces.
We have become an enemy to him: to Satan.† He will do everything he can to attack us, and bring us to defeat in our effort to walk a Godly life before the Lord. We are at war, as a child of God.† Our enemy is the law of sin and death that wants to destroy us and deliver us into eternal damnation.
You are blessed when others persecute and revile you, for the cause of Jesus Christ.† The Spirit of God rests upon you.† It is glowing evidence of your rejection of sin and your determination to walk in righteousness.
Donít be discouraged! Rejoice that you are so filled with the Spirit of God, that his enemies are threatened by your very presence. Continue to walk boldly in your confession of faith.† Rejoice in the new life that Jesus has given you.
Walk with new vigor. Fill your heart with joy when others revile you. Get excited about being a child of God. You are indeed blessed to be counted worthy to radiate his glory in the presence of all the evil forces of this world.
Dear Heavenly Father, I must confess that sometimes I become intimidated when others attack me.† They make me believe that somehow, I am a failure in serving you.†† Lord, I donít want to be a failure. Help me to remember that they revile me because they reviled You.
Increase my faith.† Fill me with your spirit.† Help me to radiate your Glory, in the presence of your enemies.† Help me to remember that it is a blessing to be identified with you.† I thank you for the privilege. Help me to glorify your name. I pray in the name of Jesus.† Amen.
