Thought for the Day #370

Proverbs 24:1-2 (New American Standard Bible)

Do not be envious of evil men, Nor desire to be with them; 2 For their minds devise violence, And their lips talk of trouble.

True Christians often look at the fame and fortune of the wicked with envy.We work so hard to prosper, all to no avail. The wicked seem to increase their wealth and pleasure while Godís children continue to struggle.

There is no doubt that Satan has the ability to cause the wicked to prosper. He offered to give Jesus the kingdoms of this world and all that they possess, if he would bow down and worship him.

We are often tempted to yield to the temptations that are always before us. The enemy will entice us with silver and gold, plus all of the ungodly sensual pleasure of lustful flesh. He has the power to give corruptible possessions to those who are willing to sell their soul to him...

Donít yield to Satanís illusions of happiness and prosperity. They last but a moment and then fade into misery and despair. Remember, earthly gain is the only reward for the ungodly, then comes eternal judgment and damnation

The Christianís reward is eternal. It is safely held in Godís storehouse where moth and rust does not corrupt. While you may endure hardship for a season, faithfulness to God

produces indestructible riches for all of the ages to come.

Hardship lasts but for a season. God always supplies our need as we prove faithful in our commitment to serve him. Rest assured that God will preserve and keep you during the times of testing. Abide in Him. Obey His word, and you have nothing to fear.

Dear God Almighty, I come to you with an honest heart. I am jealous of the wicked who always seem to prosper in their evil ambitions. Life seems so unfair. Those who live righteously struggle, while the evil enjoy luxuries.

Forgive me for being tempted to follow their way of life. I know that their pleasures are temporary, hollow and empty. Sometimes I forget that Your reward is eternal.

Help me to look unto you, Oh, Lord for my blessings and need. Show me how to strengthen my faith and help me to reject temptation. I want the riches of eternal life in your kingdom rather than the pleasures of this world which last but a season. Forgive me for being jealous of evil men. Help me to reject their corrupt ways. I want to abide in Your righteousness. I pray in the name of Jesus, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
