Thought for the Day #382

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5NASB

We often have difficulty understanding the situations with which weíre confronted. In fact, it is not all unusual for us to avoid or reject that which is presented to us simply because we cannot figure out in our own understanding and intellectual analysis of those things which have been presented to us.

One of the most discouraging elements of life present themselves in a way that causes us to question the validity of those things to which we are exposed, only to find out later that the opportunities which slipped by us were extended for our benefit, but because we could not understand all the details, the ramifications and responsibilities involved, we pass them by.

Our Heavenly Father has extended many promises to us for our benefit. He opens doors of opportunity, promises us that he will guide and direct our lives, and has committed himself to always act in our best interest.

Since Godís ways are so far above our ways, our limited understanding causes us to reject or miss his directives.

Always remember that our best interests are our Heavenly Fatherís first concern. He loves to bless his people and provide them with provisions far beyond their needs. The big roadblock that causes us to miss his blessings is most likely our lack of faith.

Faith requires trust, and trust must come without our full understanding. We are reminded that the Lord said that his ways are not our ways; they are far above our ways and certainly beyond our understanding.

Why not take God at his word, trust him, and let him direct your life without your insistence on understanding his every move. Trust him! You will be amazed at how much smoother your life will be. He knows the beginning from the end and everything in between. He knows your need even before you approach him with it.

Never depend upon your own understanding if you expect the supernatural ability of God to bless your life. Lean not to your own understanding, trust in the Lord. It will save you a lot of trouble and make your life much easier.

Dear Heavenly Father, I know that I need help in learning to trust you. My carnal nature insists that I understand everything before I can accept it. I know that as your child, I can depend upon you to lead me in better decisions and guide me into a more productive life. Help me to lay aside my skepticism and fear. I want to yield my life to you. Direct me in your perfect ways and help me to trust in your wisdom and knowledge rather than my own. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
