Psalm 84:10   (New American Standard Bible)

“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

Lifestyles of the ungodly become a treacherous trap. We equate the possessions of the world as a standard for happiness and success. Our dreams are consumed with compelling effort. Climbing to the “top” and being successful becomes our obsession.

Remember our birthright1 We are his chosen remnant, the people of his Covenant. We are the son’s of God. We have access to the storehouse of His abundance.

David had discovered the truth of his heritage. The power of his Lord and the value of His promise were absolute. He was able to declare with full appreciation One day in your courts is better than a thousand outside.”

Just being in the light of God’s presence for one day was more glorious than spending a thousand in Babylon’s lifestyle. The provision of the Lord is more than sufficient. His protection and covering is absolute.

Nothing is so sweet as living in the light of his righteousness.  We are a new creation. Old things are passed away. New things have come. (2 Corinthians 5:17) We have left the life of sin and bondage behind. The purity and righteousness of Christ saturates our entire being. We are the Sons of God. Our Father delights to bless those who love him. He honors those who serve him.

His mighty arm strikes the crushing blow against the wicked. His shield stands before us against their fiery darts.  They come to battle to find only absolute defeat.  The great light of His Word and Spirit expose their evil collusion. Our enemies will not over throw us.

Our Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father: Thank you for your great arm and shield of provision and protection.  Help me to turn from this world’s wicked ways. I reject my pessimistic fear. I wish to stand upon my “Covenant” birthright. Help me to live in unwavering faith. I wish to dwell in the temple of your presence and walk uprightly in your power and strength.  Help me to abide in your presence continually. Pray in Jesus’ name.
